Classroom Media Workshop -- Summer 2013
Instructors: CMW Facilitation Team at Harvard University

Reflection: I also found out about this course through a post on the ISED listserv and joined. It was different than the Scratch workshop in that it was a small pilot class instead of a massive online course. The facilitators worked with our small cohort of about 18 educators from across the country to teach us how to create media for use in our classroom.
In this three-week course, we did readings about uses of classroom media and looked at exemplars. Then we learned the basics of storyboarding, filming, editing, and polishing our media. The WeVideo video-editing platform was used for its affordances of being collaborative and web-based. Feedback from instructors and peers was given through weekly office hours through Google+ Hangouts, the course website forum, and the design notebooks. I really enjoyed this course and felt like I learned the basics of filming media for use in my class. The Classroom Library video I created is something I can share with students during our first weeks of school.
Description: Classroom Media Workshop was a three-week online course for educators and administrators to learn about planning for and creating media for classrooms, schools, and beyond. The workshop, which was free, began on Monday, July 15 and ended on Friday, August 2. Check out the FAQ for more information about this learning experience.
This course is facilitated by Brandon Pousley and Mary Jo Madda, the CMW Facilitation Team, who are also Education Entrepreneurship residents at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
