Leadership

Picture
Throughout my career, I have taken on many leadership roles.  I am a technology leader in the middle school, have served as chair or active member of several administrative teams and committees such as technology, diversity & equity, and character education.  I was asked to serve as Interim Director of Middle School in 2009 during our national search for a new director.

Creativity

Picture
My goal as a teacher is to find more engaging ways to help students learn.  I have challenged myself to try new things and foster that spirit of exploration in the classroom. From teaching film and media studies to taking a massive open online class (MOOC) to learn about computational thinking, I am committed to playful learning.

Relationships

Picture
I am a listener and problem-solver.  Through conversations with students in advisory groups and school clubs, I strive to be a person with whom students can connect.  I love working with my colleagues to support their technology integration needs and also to discuss issues related to our work as middle school educators.

Technology & Innovation

Picture
From the moment I received my first computer at 12-years-old, I have been drawn to the power of technology to help us connect and create.  To our students, it is a seamless part of their lives, but they often have not been taught the skills to navigate the digital landscape effectively and responsibly.  I am excited to be teaching classes that help students not just use these tools in creative ways, but that help them examine how their choices impact themselves and others.
