Brad Lyman
Head of School, Kentucky Country Day School
Lisa combines a keen mind and a child-centered and progressive educational philosophy with a warm, authentic, and calm personality. She is masterful in working with groups and in team situations. Her knowledge of technology is impressive.
She recently served as the interim head of our middle school and her decisions were centered on what was in the best interest of the student, within the context of our school mission. She did an excellent job in a tough situation. Faculty, parents, and students have commented to me on several occasions just how lucky we are to have her on our faculty.
I have come to know Lisa quite well. Through our meetings and other forums, she has proven herself to be a highly successful administrator and teacher. Her nationally recognized “Stitch for a Cause” program has been part of our school culture for many years.
Lisa is a scholar, a person of humility, and an empathetic person whose commitment to service is extraordinary. She is a woman of integrity who is constantly striving to improve her work.
Yet, best of all, Lisa is a genuinely good person - respected by her peers and the entire KCD family. She’s the teacher you never want to lose and the one that you hope your child has in class.
Lisa is well spoken and well organized. Her temperament, diplomatic skills, political acumen, intelligence, and wide array of experiences make her a great candidate for any program.

Ms. Stringfellow always encouraged a creative atmosphere! She really pushed us to think outside of the box. She was passionate and concerned with what we were learning. Her patience was notable. We were excited to go to Language Arts, because she made learning so much fun! A teacher's mood can set the atmosphere. Ms. Stringfellow had a smile on her face and a plan for each class. She was well organized too.

Ayesha, 10th grader

Mrs. Stringfellow has a wonderful connection with students both inside and outside the classroom. I remember joining the club Stitch for a Cause, for the same reason Mrs. Stringfellow sponsored it: to help those in need in the simplest way. I walked in, not knowing how to knit, but by the time I left at 4:00 that day I knew how to knit and began my first square! Mrs. Stringfellow taught me with patience and encouraged me to continue on even when I got frustrated.
By the end of my middle school career, not only did I get to know Mrs. Stringfellow as a wonderful and kind person, but also as a very influential figure in my life. I knit countless hats for Save the Children and got on the front of their national website all thanks to Mrs. Stringfellow. With her support and guidance, we were able to go to Washington D.C. to talk with our representatives about supporting the Save the Children Bill. Mrs. Stringfellow and I also appeared on the news several times as well as gaining quite some publicity in the Louisville paper.
Most of all, Mrs. Stringfellow motivated me to reach for the sky. I am so thankful to have such a teacher in my life who is dedicated to providing her students with everything she can. My relationship with Mrs. Stringfellow, with extracurricular activities, defined the importance of building my platform. The journey that I had with Mrs. Stringfellow was memorable and definitely integral to my life now.

Andrew Campbell
English Dept. Chair & Upper School English Teacher, Kentucky Country Day School
Wherever one looks around KCD, one finds Lisa's presence and expertise. Walking to lunch, I see Lisa's posters reminding students and faculty about her Stitch for a Cause project. As I organize my electronic gradebook each year, I use the book she helped put together to help the less tech-savvy folks like me get it right. A few years down the road, I have her students in my classes and they remember her joy in teaching, her patience, and her constant calm and love. As a colleague, I find her posts about using technology in the classroom helpful and encouraging. And what really staggers me is that she is always willing to help with whatever one needs help with, and I know how busy she really is.
Lisa's presence adds a wonderful light to KCD, and I am grateful she is here making the school a better place.

Ms. Stringfellow has not only proven to be passionate about teaching English, but is also passionate about helping others in need. Her commitment to the after school club, Stitch For A Cause, is well known. She has introduced me to programs like the Knit-One-Save-One program that saves premature babies through the creation of knitted hats. She carries this commitment and passion in and out of the classroom and has shown strong leadership skills as our temporary middle school director.

Marjorie Seely
Middle School French and Spanish teacher, Kentucky Country Day School
Lisa is an inspiration to many people on both a personal and professional level. As a teacher, she is always finding or creating ways to engage her students, be they students at the top of the class who need enrichment or students who are struggling and need extra support. Her patient and unflappable manner has a calming effect on students, parents and colleagues, and hers is a voice of reason.
With a full teaching load, three children of her own and graduate courses, one would think Lisa would guard her time jealously, but nothing could be further from the truth. She is always willing to cover a class, help her less technology-savvy colleagues understand a new program, or help a fellow knitter fix a dropped stitch. Lisa doesn't wait to be asked to help: she looks for ways, whether it be holding a technology workshop for colleagues, putting together a team for a March of Dimes walk, staging a stitch-a-thon to make baby hats for Save the Children, or taking students to visit and knit with senior citizens at a local YMCA.
Lisa accomplishes all of this with grace, humility and a warm smile. She is intelligent, creative, kind and selfless, and it is truly a privilege to work with her.

I remember that you were the nicest teacher and you let us knit our baby hats :)
I also remember that you were patient with us learning stuff and you were my advisor and that I was in the Stitch for a Cause group throughout 5th and 6th grade.
