Reflection: I found out about this workshop through a posting Kate Messner sent out to the Child_Lit listserv.
I am excited to learn about writing from such a talented group of middle grades and YA writers. I hope to apply what I
learn to my own writing as well as share it with my students when we prepare for the NaNoWriMo Young Writers Program in
the fall.
Description: Teachers Write! is an online virtual summer writing camp for teachers and librarians who understand how important it is for people teaching writing to walk the walk. Our goal is to provide opportunities and encouragement for writing, learning, and sharing, with support from published authors who donate their time to visit and join our conversations. The workshop, which is free, begins on Monday, June 24 and ends on Friday, August 16. Check out the website for more information about this learning experience.
AuthorI am a 5 & 6th grade English teacher and teach at a JK-12 independent school in Louisville, KY. We are piloting Chromebooks in a 1:1 program for 5th & 6th grades this year. For the first time, I am also teaching a course of my own design in the fifth grade called Language & Literacies. It combines a focus on independent reading, writing, and digital literacy skills.
